Is Mayweather McGregor 2 Happening?
Could it be happing? Is Mayweather McGregor 2 Happening?
There is speculation that a rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor could happen sooner than later and that there are agreements on the matter.
Mayweather surprised fans when he started to show interest in the UFC back in January.
By posting videos on Instagram, rumours started flying around that Mayweather and McGregor are going to face up a second time this time in the octagon.
Editor in Chief for the Sports Journal in Dubai, Mr Omar Al Raisi says that the two fighters will indeed meet in the octagon.
However, the rules will be different. There will be no kicks, no knees, no takedowns and no elbows. When Dana White was asked about the remarks, he said, “None of that is even close to true.”
Floyd Mayweather can’t seem to stay out of retirement. There is always something that draws him back to fighting. He had previously stated that the only reason that he is going to come out of retirement this time around would be to fight in the MMA.
He said, “retirement has been great, but as everybody knows I go into retirement and I come back, I go into retirement, and I come back.
“Is it possible that I come back? Yes, but if I do come back, it has to be in the octagon. I will not box again.”
Mayweather also said that he had talks with Showtime and CBS concerning another mega fight against Conor McGregor in the octagon.
He also said, “When I do go to the octagon, I look at going around 145. I want to do it if the money is right. I can do whatever I want to do; I’m Floyd Mayweather.”
Dana White, however, said that there is no truth to this. One thing is for sure, Conor McGregor hasn’t been inside the octagon in a long time. The last match was against Eddie Alvarez whom he beat to become the first simultaneous two-weight champion.
Following his recent stunt at the UFC 223 media day, it is unknown when McGregor will be returning to the octagon. McGregor threw a trolley through a bus window and would get penalised for it.
However, McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy says that he would be returning to the octagon faster than most people think. He said, “We can’t really talk about when he wants to return, but he’s adamant he wants to return.”
As to when the UFC fight between Mayweather and McGregor is going to take place, we will have to wait and find out.
